Teresa Carranza currently serves students and families as the District Coordinator of Dual Language and Biliteracy for the Madison Metropolitan School District, where she coordinates 18 school based (K-12) Dual Language programs, working collaboratively with an amazing team of skilled colleagues. Dr. Carranza holds teaching credentials in Elementary, ESL and Bilingual Education as well as both a Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College. Her experiences also include living and teaching in Mexico City, consulting work for the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at UW-Madison, serving as an alignment analyst of bilingual and ESL state assessments in Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Michigan, and Puerto Rico and teaching certification courses for bilingual and dual language immersion education at Edgewood College. Dr. Carranza has served students in bilingual programs in a variety of ways over the past 28 years, including teaching as a bilingual teacher, ESL teacher, Dual Language Immersion Program Planner, and as Principal of a large Two -way immersion (K-2) program. She has had the pleasure of presenting at National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE), Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA), and The Association of Two-Way & Dual Language Education (ATDLE) conferences on the planning and development of dual language programs and loves sharing her passion for expanding language opportunities with everyone!
